Why Triglycerides Have Been Forgotten
Most people are more worried about lowering their cholesterol levels, but they forget how important it is to have lower triglyceride levels as well.
The human body already makes triglycerides, but the body also makes triglycerides out of the food that a person eats. Foods that are high in carbohydrates can cause triglycerides to reach higher levels, which can ultimately become dangerous. Most people did not have to worry about high triglyceride, or high cholesterol levels over one hundred years ago. This is because there was no such thing as cookies, cakes, and chocolate. As soon as these foods were introduced into a person’s diets, heart disease started to grow at alarming rates. Doctors are now associating high levels of triglycerides to heart disease. Fat is a lipid, and a triglyceride is a form of fat. People who eat carbohydrates will automatically have triglycerides because triglycerides are in carbohydrate foods. People need some carbohydrates, just as they need some fats and sugars. It is in the quantity of these three that can cause high triglycerides. When a person eats white bread, that is higher in carbohydrates than wheat bread. Wheat bread is the best food to eat when lowering cholesterol and triglycerides because it is natural.
It was not until recently that doctors started to correlate heart disease with high triglyceride levels. More doctors were spending time on lowering the cholesterol levels of their patients that they forgot to warn them about high triglyceride levels. Since the body already has triglycerides, the key is to stay away from foods that have triglycerides because it just adds to the triglycerides that already exist. Doctors are now spending equal times in warning their patients about the danger of high cholesterol and triglycerides. Both cholesterol and triglycerides effect the heart, but triglycerides can also effect other areas of the body, such as the pancreas and the liver.

- Beans without sugar
- Foods high in fiber
When eating food, there should be a balance in eating foods that will lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Some foods that are used to lower cholesterol will end up raising triglycerides. Having an equal balance of fruit will help to lower cholesterol, and not effect the triglycerides in a negative way. Sugars are the enemy when it comes to high cholesterol and triglycerides. Creating a habit of eating foods without sugar will be one of the hardest things for people to do, but if they are suffering from heart disease, they will have no choice. Introducing high fibered foods into the diet will help people to create an equal balance to their diets. They will begin to feel better once their triglyceride and cholesterol levels are back to good numbers.
